They say March goes in like a lion and out like a lamb, but I uphold that in 2014, it came in like a lion … and out like a lion. I’m not talking about weather, though. I’m talking about speed. Didn’t March just start? Wasn’t March 1, like, two days ago? I’m so confused.
This month was a strange one – from one end of the spectrum to another. It was full of hope (spring! it’s happening!) and hopelessness (the horrific landslide that occurred not far from where we live).
Predictably, before the mudslide, I spent much of the month obsessing over gardening and natural playscapes for our little one. Food-wise, after discovering just how full I remained for hours and hours after this super-simple breakfast, I started working toward incorporating higher-protein ingredients into my recipes. You’ll see some of those soon.
When I look back on the month, two things come to mind: Love and the stomach flu. Which, incidentally, could totally be a band name.
Love, mostly because Valentine’s Day was this month. You know, as it happens every February. But also because I spent a good part of the month being a little more introspective than usual, and that reminded me to slow down a bit and focus on those that I love – and bask in it a little more.
Well hello there! It’s already January 31 (I know! How?!) – and I thought that this year, I’d try something new. It’s a monthly recap featuring of all the stuff that’s swirled around in my head, life, and stomach these past 30 or 31 (or 28, hi February) days.
Hello there! Here’s some of the mostly-random stuff that’s been on my mind this week.
Best of 2012
So many of my favorite blogs featured “best of” 2012 posts, and I had so much fun reading them. It’s so interesting to see what both bloggers and readers tend to love the most.
Here begins a new little feature, “This Week’s Bits & Bites.” It’s pretty simple: I’ll highlight some of my favorite stuff from the past week, I’ll talk about it a bit, and I might incorporate a few annoying little puns here and there. And for that last part, I am sorry.
