Lemonade by the Glass Ingredients
Seriously, this one-glass-of-lemonade recipe could not be simpler. How’s it made, exactly? Well, the ingredients you need for this lemonade recipe for one are:
- A lemon (for about 3 tablespoons worth of fresh lemon juice)
- Water – Some hot, and some cold (I’ll explain this in a minute)
- Granulated sugar
- Ice, of course!
How to Make It
The first thing you want to do is stir the sugar together with the hot water, right in the glass. Why hot water? This is an easy-peasy (lemon squeezy [ahem]) way to dissolve the sugar quickly. No grainy lemonade here!
Then, add the lemon juice and the remaining water.
Plop in ice so that your glass is filled to the brim, stir, and voila! That’s how to make a glass of lemonade!
So now you know how to make lemonade with fresh lemon juice for one glass. Soon you’ll be finding yourself making a cup of lemonade every time the craving hits (guaranteed the craving will hit often after you’ve discovered this super-simple fresh-squeezed lemonade by the glass!)
Now to find the perfect lemonade-sipping spot out on the porch! Oh, and come back in the wintertime for single serve hot chocolate!

Best lemonade I’ve ever made! Yum!
Variation:
2.5 tbs. granulated sugar
3/4 cup carbonated water
1/4 cup cold water
Mix together until sugar is dissolved
Add 4 tbs. fresh squeezed lemon juice
Stir to combine (add ice if desired)
ENJOY!
The only thing I changed was I added a half teaspoon more sugar, but everything else was great!
This recipe is really good!! All I did differently was put it in the fridge to cool down! Also if you’re not a big fan of sugar just reduce the amount.
Hi Kiara! So glad you liked it. 🙂
Wonderful!! I used agave rather than sugar because it’s much healthier but tastes exactly the same. Also didn’t have to mess with hot water step. I’ve made twice now. This is my go to. Love it!
That is such a great idea! 🙂
Thank you! I was looking for the proportions for a single-sized serving of lemonade, because I had leftover lemon juice from a recipe I made last night! This came out perfect, and I am enjoying it right at this very moment 🙂
Awesome, I loved it. Not too sour, but then not too sweet.
Perfect in my eyes, just the way it is.
Absolutely the best glass lemonade ever!
Perfect!!! Not too sweet 😉
Very much enjoying this quick, simple recipe. I can make a larger amount, but the single-serve size is perfect. Thanks.
This is the third time i’ve made this and it is fantastic every time! Thanks for sharing!
Yay! 🙂 Perfect for summer. 🙂
This is a beautiful recipe and we are very happy with it! If you are looking for a quick 2-minute recipe this is the one to go!
Xx Livy and Mimo
Thank you!
Oh. My. Gosh.
Let me start off by saying I am truly a lemonade snob – for me it needs the perfect mix of sour and sweet, but with minimal ingredients. I’ve tried many lemonade recipes and this one hands down is the BEST. I absolutely love the taste – I did add slightly more sugar, but that made it perfect. A great way to get extra vitamin C in winter and the perfect anytime refreshing drink!
I make it even easier by making the simple syrup part ahead of time. All that is is sugar and water brought to a boil until you can smell the sugar. You can add it to your hummingbird feeders too. That is unless you do like me and add a little cooking lavender in a tea strainer to the sugar water.
Then I just cut a lemon in half, squeeze the juice into the glass throw the rest of the squeezed lemon into the glass, add the simple syrup, ice and water to taste. I even add a couple frozen strawberries or some other fruit or herb (lime, lavender, orange, kiwi, etc) on occasion. Then throughout the day I just keep adding water, ice and simple syrup to taste. Eventually the lemons are done for, but it does get a lot of mileage out of one lemon. I live in Phoenix, so this is just a daily thing here in the heat. You can’t go wrong with lemonade. If it’s too tart, add some syrup. If it’s too sweet, water it down or add more lemon. Right now I have something like 3 half lemon rinds in my cup and strawberries. I’ve been sipping on it all day and it’s better than anything I can buy in the store and way better (and healthier) than soda. Life is good.
I love all of these ideas, thanks so much Katrina!
The best lemonade ever!!!….you gotta try it you’ll be surprised 😉
Just drank two glasses of this – it is delicious! And easy!!!
I love this! it’s not too sweet and it’s not too sour. But I would suggest using room temperature water instead of hot water.
I absolutly love this resipe, i was sitting in my room, and really wanted juice, but there wad none left, i am happy i found you guys to help me with my thirst lol, thanks so much
Tasted wonderful!
Thanks so much!
I made this lemonade and it was delicious!
Thank you for the review, Olivia! I’m so glad you liked it. 🙂
Love the single glass lemonade! I froze two ice cube trays of juice for use later. Used a mix of Lisbon and Meyer lemons fresh off the trees here in Florida. Thanks! Bob
This was exactly what I was looking for! I used it for limeade, too. Thank you!
I just wanted something different to drink and I had a few lemons. Yummmm….thanks for sharing.
Hello
I would like to make homemade lemonade for at least 10 servings how would l do this recipe to make up for 10 servings
This was excellent! Awesome recipe, and very simple to make.
I love this recipe it’s the best lemonade better than store bought by X999
This is one of the best lemonades I’ve ever had
Love it!
Great lemonaide I make this every Saturday in my 32 once cup I triple the recipe but it is still amazing.
I like It but I think it is to sweet. You should add more lemon juice.👍😄
It was delicious I loved that lemonade recipe
Thanks Aaron!
I tried this using lime juice instead of lemon because its what we had in the fridge and this made a very tasty glass of limeaid! The measurements seemed to be perfect for my personal taste. It tastes no different than when we buy limeaid frozen from the store. Thanks for this 🙂
Yum!
This is some of the best lemonade I’ve ever had! It was so quick to make, and tastes delicious!
Best lemonade ever thank you so much I really like to slowly drink while studying ore calc it really helps my focus and this was perfect would 100% recommend,(and I have to all of my friends!
hi, i have made this so many times this summer and love it!! not to sour, not to sour or sweet, my family has also loved this. i use exactly 1 lemon each time, next time i might add lemon zest and mabey mint!
Absolutely disgusting. 3 tablespoons is WAAYYY too much lemon juice. Now I’m left to drink this vile liquid because I don’t want to waste it.
Sure you got the right measurement? Or enough sugar? Ooh maybe you don’t have enough water to lemon juice ratio! Make sure you get this part right
You could maybe try adding more sugar and/or water. Just a thought.
Just found your recipe today. My produce box arrived with lemons and my 6 year old granddaughter wanted to make lemonade. She’s thrilled!
Perfect! I’m going to need to make this with my kid soon too. 🙂
My 4 yr old was asking for lemonade and I only wanted to make a small batch. I doubled it The only difference is that when I doubled the recipe , I placed only a 1/4 cup of hot water and the sugar in a 16 oz mason jar. I swirled the water/sugar mixture to dissolve the sugar. I then added 1 cup of cold water and the rest of the ingredients, placed the lid on top of the jar and and shook it. Voila! Easy peasy! When I’m craving strawberry lemonade, I add 1/4 teaspoon strawberry emulsion. Yum! Thank you!
It was good but I couldn’t make it right! I didn’t know how much water or sugar to add. Please provide those amounts I really want some fresh lemonade!
Please scroll down to the recipe or click on “jump to recipe” for the quantities.
a little sour but i like it will def be making again
This is so easy and just what you need on a hot day.try it with a little lavender too.
Yum!
…
Was drinking this during my stream on Twitch and everyone asked for the recipe. People were so surprised how easy it is to make your own lemonade with just sugar and lemons.
So every Saturday I take my 3 year old son to the farmers market with me and he always loved getting a fresh lemonade from the lemonade stand- until recently they changed their hours and the guy working would not sell us a Lemonade before 10am. We get there at 7 usually and can’t wait around 3 hours so I knew I had to find a simple recipe for my son.
This was the best recipe we found. Now my 3 year old, my 2 year old, myself and my dad can have fresh squeezed lemonade whenever we want! Even before ten am lol. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!!! We love it!
Heck yeah, lemonade 24/7! 🙂 I’m so glad this fits the bill for you. Thank you so much for coming back to leave a review and happy summer!
Brilliant! I juice fresh lemons if a recipe calls for lemon juice. Now the leftover lemons render this delightful libation. Thank you.
Delicious! I used Spenda and it was just as mouth watering 🙂
Could use less lemon more sugar but otherwise great
Sure, adjust to your tastes and preferences! 🙂
My kids love your lemonade recipe.
I’m so glad! Thank you!
This recipe is awesome. I always make huge pitchers of lemonade during the summer but didn’t want a large amount in this season. I found this recipe. I just love it. I just made myself a glass. It’s the second time making it and this one tastes even better than the first one. I guess the type of lemon made a difference. Will be making it again for sure.
Hi Jeannine! So glad this one is a winner for you. Thanks so much for coming back and leaving a review. 🙂
My mother in law has a prolific lemon tree and we give bags of lemons away to friends every week. Glad I found this 1-glass recipe because a pitcher is too much to consume before the lemonade looses its freshness. We were low on sugar so I substituted honey and the taste was great. Nice to read all of the other variations mentioned among these comments.
