Sometimes I’m not really sure if I should share something with y’all. Especially when, say, it takes so few ingredients and so little time that it’s hardly even really a recipe. Or it’s so straightforward that it took me pretty much zero imagination to come up with it. Or it’s something I didn’t even come up with myself. Or all three. I mean, everyone has had homemade fries baked in the oven, right?Read More
I had so much fun making these muffins with my little girl. I’ve held her on my hip as she “helped” me awkwardly sift and stir, but this time, and for the first time, I was able to sit her on the kitchen counter like a big girl. As I kept a hand on her at pretty much all times, she measured, spooned, poured, and mixed. “Eggs!” “Na-nilla!” “Flow-ah!” she exclaimed as we pulled ingredients out and mixed them in to make the perfect muffins. And, of course, we also made a perfect mess.Read More
It took me awhile to “get” kale chips. And by awhile, I mean years.
My lack of love for the crispy little snack had to do with two things: 1) Misguided expectations and 2) I wasn’t making them correctly.Read More
Welcome to my very first “skinny” recipe! I’ll be honest – I’m not sure I love the use of “skinny” in recipe titles, and I’ve been hesitant to jump on that particular bandwagon. But sometimes you’ve just gotta go with the most descriptive word, and so “skinny” it is.

Though we’re huge fans of the salad I’m sharing with you today (mine without shrimp, his with), overall, we’re not much for seafood in our family. My guy just generally doesn’t love it, and for me, fish and its brethren went out the door many years ago when I became a vegetarian.Read More
Allow me to introduce you to my new favorite healthy snack, edamame with citrus salt. Edamame with citrus salt, meet reader. Just so you know, edamame, reader might want to eat you.Read More
For better or worse, one single word describes a really good snack to me: “addictive.” Lay’s nailed it with their “betcha can’t eat just one” motto … when you find you can’t stop, you know you’ve got something salty, crunchy, and usually sinful. Usually.
That’s why I love roasted chickpeas. Salty and crunchy – yes. Addictive – yes, yes, yes. Sinful? Nope! These things are healthy, and that’s why they’re a favorite snack in our house.Read More
