Yes, the word “green” is in the title of this post. No, it’s not a typo. This is totally a green smoothie! I mean, look!Read More
I’ve got a definite thing for smoothies lately, and a definite definite thing for coconut smoothies. I mean, coconut is good in just about anything, but when I add it to a smoothie in any form – milk, water, flakes, toasted flakes – I feel like I’m drinking a milkshake.
A smoothie that’s pretty healthy overall, but still feels indulgent? Win. And I’ve got a definite definite DEFINITE thing for this Toasted Coconut Coffee Smoothie.Read More
Iiiiiit’s time! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Bring on the pink, the hearts, the red velvet, the mushy-mush. Gushing proclamations of love and stubborn anti-V.D. sentiments are sure to abound in equal measure.Read More
I am a walking cliche. It’s a brand new year, I have vowed to eat healthier, cleaner, less overall, and just plain better this year. I’ve re-joined a gym, I’m ready to start up Couch to 5K (ahem, again), and, boy. Am I ever on a serious smoothie kick.
After enjoying smoothies that are every color of the rainbow (and loving every second of it), I think this pure white Toasted Coconut Smoothie is oh-so refreshing. Both in the looks department and in the taste department. Is there a taste department? If there was, I’d totally go there. Except then I might have a problem with my 2014 resolutions.Read More
The holidays are upon us, and dang, did Christmas come fast this year, or what?! I thought I had it together, but today, I’m a little stressed. I don’t know about you, but I feel like I need an extra boost (or two, or three) to get me through my endless to-do list.
Oh, and hey! A Power Berry Smoothie (or two, or three) should fit the bill just fine.Read More
My blueberry bush finally has blueberries! I planted it three years ago, and nothing … nothing … and then this year: bam! Blueberries! So exciting. Except … well, crap. I’m moving. Naturally. And the blueberry bush has to stay.
But. But! Our new house? A dozen, maybe more, mature raspberry plants line one of the fences in the backyard. 20 feet, maybe more, of pure happy raspberry bliss. So, you know what? I’m good with this trade. And there will be plenty of room for blueberry bushes, too. Lots of them.
And then I will make Blueberry Oatmeal Smoothies all summer long. (And raspberry ones too!)Read More
Okay, so maybe it’s more khaki than green.Read More
Today, I have no story. The kid and the dog are playing on the floor, sort of throwing the tennis ball back and forth. It’s cute. My guy and I have just started house shopping and my brain is reeling a bit from our first excursion out looking yesterday evening. We’ve started packing up this house and it’s already mayhem. And then the daycare I had just started taking my little one to a couple of mornings per week – the daycare that took me months to find, that took me even longer to wrap my brain around, the daycare that my little one was loving, the daycare that allowed me to have a few blessed uninterrupted hours to work on Kitchen Treaty – just fell through.
And so I’m processing. Lots of processing. No story, but there is a smoothie.Read More
Oh hey. In a day or two, you’re going to be at the store grabbing limes for your Cinco de Mayo margaritas (you are picking up limes for margaritas, right?!) Well, grab a couple extra. And a couple more. Because this might just be your new favorite green smoothie recipe. It’s definitely mine.Read More
It’s happening. My daughter is saying new words every day, and as much as I’m trying not to succumb to the baby talk, well, sometimes it’s a little contagious. So I may have found myself calling her diaper a “by-poh” once or twice. Elmo is eh-ma, the cat is “me-AHHHowww” (said plaintively, just how the cat says it). And bananas? Na-na-nas. Naturally.
So today, I have brought you a vegan na-na-na chocolate smoothie. I know, I know – it’s only cute when she says it. Okay: vegan banana chocolate smoothie.Read More
So, I realize I’m several years late to the party here, but I’ve finally discovered yoga.
It’s, like, a trip to the spa for a massage. Except you do it yourself, it’s cheaper, and you feel even better afterwards. I’m taking very beginner level classes – no impossible pose attempts in front of depressing mirrors and no hot-yoga blackout episodes, not that I’d know anything about either of those things – and I’m practically giddy over how much I’m enjoying it. “Grace” and “flexible” are about the last two words one would ever use to describe me, but if I keep this up, maybe I’ll get a little closer. So far, it certainly makes me feel great.Read More
Chocolate and strawberries. Strawberries and chocolate. A natural pair. MFEO. Peas in a pod. And perfect for today.
I think you’re looking at the perfect breakfast to whip up for your Valentine this morning. Or any morning, really. It’s chocolatey – oh, so chocolatey – but it also boasts a nice, big dose of healthy, juicy strawberries along with vanilla yogurt, a little orange juice, and a dash of vanilla.Read More
So, pumpkin. I’ve been a little obsessed with it lately. I mean, it’s my job: I’m a nesting new mom, I’m thoroughly in love with fall, I’m a food blogger, I like to eat. And Nutella too, for that matter. Good gracious, how is it that something can taste that good? Dangerously delicious stuff, that Nutella.
So I thought I’d take a couple of my obsessions and combine them into something that is also pretty much perpetually an obsession: smoothies. Delighted to meet you, Pumpkin Nutella Smoothie.Read More
It took me awhile to succumb, but I finally have. I have tried – and, as it turns out, love – green smoothies.Read More
