This Week’s Bits & Bites

Hello hello! It is a lovely Friday morning here at the Kitchen Treaty house and I hope your Friday is shaping up to be equally lovely. The weather today is balmy (for February) and glorious, perfect for the start of The Great Backyard Bird Count. Which my 5-year-old and I found out about at about 9 a.m. this morning – and we were out in our yard by 10:30 a.m., binoculars, checklist, and bird guide in hand. We saw hummingbirds, Stellar’s Jays, and crows (our daughter got VERY excited over the crows – so cute). And a mystery bird that we drew a  sketch of and will investigate. I’ve always been a bit of a wannabe bird nerd so I’m excited my kiddo is into it too.

We made our first trip to the nursery earlier this week, though we just browsed around. I don’t think I’ll ever not love succulents – I need to plant many this year. Yup, I can feel my garden mojo kicking in … it’s happening! Time to finish building the veggie garden, build out the herb garden, and get to planting. Spring fever, baby. It’s on.

Oh, and I’m on day 10 of my Plant Based Professional Certification program with Rouxbe. I’m already learning a lot and feeling inspired. So far I’m so glad I did this, though making the time for my schooling does mean less recipes around here for awhile (I’m down to one recipe per week for the next few months, unless inspiration hits and I just can’t wait to share, which, knowing me, will likely happen now and then).

Enough about me! Here’s what I’m salivating over this week. (Salivating is such a gross word. But I’m sticking with it. No pun intended.)

Pecan Milk from Cookie & Kate. *Forehead bop* of course!

Blood Orange Sorbet with Red Wine Hot Fudge Sauce from Vegetarian Ventures. Glorious.

Spicy Green Tea Noodles from Well and Full. What an incredible way do green tea!

Vegan Jalapeno Chickpea Mac & Cheese from Cotter Crunch. Must. Have.

Spicy White Vegan Pizza with Broccoli Rabe & Truffle Cream from The First Mess. Oh. My goodness.

One Pot African Peanut Stew from Making Thyme for Health. This looks so comforting.

Oh and these Dark Chocolate Brownies from Foodiecrush! Mouth. Watering.
