This Month’s Bits & Bites: Recap for April 2014
Protein, salad greens, kiddo crafts, and a redesign. That pretty tidily sums up my month.
Okay, so there was more than that, too. But each of those definitely took up an inordinate amount of my time in April. And I’m totally okay with that!
I’ve been challenging myself to squeeze more protein into my recipes, and new favorites like Red Lentil Marinara Sauce and Lemony Egg in a Spinach Chickpea Nest were direct results of that effort. And after writing A Guide to Salad Greens over at Oh My Veggies, my interest in green salads was renewed. I think I’ve eaten at least one every day since writing it! Greens are so incredibly good for you. Now if only I could persuade my toddler to try a “leaf.”
And crafts! I talk a little more about that at the bottom of this post. I am sort of swimming in paint, glitter, and construction paper … but I guess I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Lastly … a redesign this month! Finally, Kitchen Treaty is where I’ve wanted it to be pretty much since its inception. I adore how easy it is to browse recipes now. I’m a happy blogger.

Obviously these results are skewed because the older recipes are naturally going to be viewed more than newer, but still fun to see which posts garnered the most hits. Looks like a tutorial won out this month – iced coffee is one of my very favorite things, so this makes me happy!

This lotion bar. It’s like butter on my hands. Like, literally … but I love it, and my perpetually dry hands love it, too.
The whole idea of a spaghettata, an impromptu, late night dinner party with good friends, a little booze, and a lot of pasta. Story by Dana Bowen, via Saveur. If I could stay up much past 9 p.m., I would really want to hang out with these people.
Crafts! My little one is getting more and more into crafts, and this pleases her craft-lovin’ mama greatly. So I’ve been stocking up on supplies galore, and I even made several ready-to-go craft bags with various crafts I’ve pinned here. Essentially, I take a gallon-size zipper bag and fill it with all of the supplies to make a specific project, and I include a little printed pic of the final product. If we have a long rainy afternoon stretching in front of us, we can go to the craft drawer, grab one, and have a little crafting fun. My husband thinks they’re great, too – easy peasy for him. The problem is, putting together the little bags can be kind of addicting, so I’ve spent way too much time on this. Mom problems. (And probably a really strong reason why I won’t be invited to spaghettata anytime soon.)
