Here begins a new little feature, “This Week’s Bits & Bites.” It’s pretty simple: I’ll highlight some of my favorite stuff from the past week, I’ll talk about it a bit, and I might incorporate a few annoying little puns here and there. And for that last part, I am sorry.
Deliciousness
Bake at 350: Faux Bois…ooo-la-la! – I love faux bois, and I love cookies. The brilliant Bridget of Bake at 350 (and author of the adorable new cookbook Decorating Cookies*) created these knotty AND nice sugar cookies . Woodn’t you like these on a plate this holiday? I think I need to cedar to believe it! I’ll stop now. Saw-ry.
Crispy Chipotle Potato Tian – One of my very favorite vegetarian food bloggers, Kiersten of Oh My Veggies, shared this amazing potato tian this past week. IF you count the salt, this recipe boasts all of four ingredients. FOUR! And it’s just gorgeous. Go look. Now.
The Chubby Vegetarian: Super-Easy Vegetarian Mexican Pizza – These mexican pizzas from The Chubby Vegetarian look so simple and utterly delicious. Especially the smoked mozzarella part. Plus, you could use smaller tortillas for individual portions and add a little meat for your beloved carnivore if he or she has been extra nice to you this week.;
Nutella Cherry Hazelnut Fudge | Annie’s Eats – So I pretty much have no words for this one. Too busy drooling.
Business & Blogging
Bites for Growing Your Blog: getting started & site design – Sally of Sally’s Baking Addiction has seen great success growing her food blog – and she’s only been at it a year! I’ve been gobbling up (pun intended) her series, the latest in a terrific trend of food bloggers sharing what they know about blogging. I’ve been at this awhile, but there are always, always! new things to learn.
WordPress Plugin: Comment Reply Notification |Theme10 – The comment reply notification plug-in; a great plug-in for every blogger to have in their arsenal. I feel a little stupid that I’ve only just now discovered it. But now I have! Yay! (Thank you again, Sally!)
The Veggie Table: Favorite Vegan and Vegetarian Smartphone Apps | Healthy Eats – Food Network Healthy Living Blog – A list of vegetarian-friendly apps from the Food Network blog. I guess there’s an app for every … diet. Pretty cool.
Relationships
Vegetarians and Meat-Eaters: Can They Ever Find Love That Lasts? | Get Holistic Health – Considering my blog’s tagline is “vegetarians and meat-eaters CAN live together,” I always zero in on stories like this one. This piece describes the challenges of mixed-diet dating along with a few tips to go the distance. My favorite suggestion, of course: try not to judge one another.
Haha…I cannot wait for my hubby to read your faux bois puns! He is ALL about the puns and is going to love this!
Thanks so much for the sweet shout-out! Happy baking!
I’m almost embarrassed by the pun-fest my husband and I had over breakfast on Saturday after I told him about this post. 😉 Those cookies are so creative and gorgeous. Happy holidays!
Thank you for featuring my series in your post! That means a lot to me and I hope everything is helpful for bloggers!
It’s a great series! There is such a never-ending list of things to learn when it comes to food blogging. I’m amazed and impressed by what you’ve learned in just one year and I thank you for sharing. I wish you continued success (it’s well-deserved! It is abundantly clear that you put a ton of time, effort, and love into your blog).
Thanks for the mention! 😀
Unrelated: Did you change your newsletter? I haven’t been getting it. I thought maybe you were taking some time off, but I guess not! 🙁
Thank you so much for the heads-up. My RSS feed was broken. Fixed that, but broke the sidebar in the meantime. ARRGH! Blogs sometimes.
