It’s happening. My daughter is saying new words every day, and as much as I’m trying not to succumb to the baby talk, well, sometimes it’s a little contagious. So I may have found myself calling her diaper a “by-poh” once or twice. Elmo is eh-ma, the cat is “me-AHHHowww” (said plaintively, just how the cat says it). And bananas? Na-na-nas. Naturally.
So today, I have brought you a vegan na-na-na chocolate smoothie. I know, I know – it’s only cute when she says it. Okay: vegan banana chocolate smoothie.
It’s made with coconut milk instead of dairy, and the word coconut almost made it into the title. But really, the coconut taste is overshadowed by the banana and the rich chocolate flavors. And how.
I’m so addicted to smoothies right now. I mean, they taste just like freakin’ milkshakes. And this one is no exception. The beauty of smoothies is that they taste sinful but they’re (usually) good for you. So how can you go wrong? I mean, you can basically have a milkshake free-for-all and it’s all good.
It’s almost like you can have your na-na-na and eat it too.

Vegan Banana Chocolate Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup light canned coconut milk (coconut milk from a carton or full-fat from a can works too)
- 1 medium banana
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve with a straw.
Woo hoo! Keep the smoothie recipes coming! I am addicted too–every afternoon around 2pm, I go downstairs and make myself a smoothie. It’s my little pick-me-up to keep me going until dinner time. ๐ And na-na-na smoothies are my favorite!
I pretty much put bananas into every smoothie I make – I just can’t help myself! I need to try chia seeds next. I keep thinking about your raspberry banana chia smoothie. I have hopes that it will be my gateway recipe.
DELICIOUS! Looks awesome. I need to have more smoothies!
I am SO addicted to smoothies right now! They’re so energizing (and then there’s the whole justified milkshake factor). I definitely recommend more smoothies!

I just made this! It’s delicious!
I’m so glad you liked it! ๐
I just made this with a couple variations here and there (I used chocolate coconut milk and added a few tablespoons of hot chocolate powder and a 1/4 cup of almonds) and it was delicious! I’m just getting into smoothies and I love them! Thanks for the great recipe!
I make a similar smoothie except I use frozen bananas so that there is no ice to melt and make the smoothie watery :p very good recipe! thanks ๐
Oooh, yes, I love doing that! Good tip. ๐
Just made this for my son and he loved it (so did I)! It is the first time he has eaten an entire banana ( : Next time I’ll freeze the banana as it gives a little creamier texture, but it’s delicious as is, thanks!!!!
Love it! I agree that frozen bananas make smoothies better. I just tend to write the recipes to reflect the way I live – usually, I don’t think that far ahead! ๐ Thank you for commenting!
This is the second time I have tried your smoothie recipes (The first was the mango one) and they are amazing! This one is sooo creamy, I am obsessed! Instead of chocolate syrup, I used Nutella because I had nothing else in the house. It wasn’t vegan, but still delicious! Thanks so much ๐
Coconut contains a huge amount of fat-more so than full-fat dairy milk. So I usually avoid that much coconut milk in one go. I use soy or almond milk, some partially frozen bananas, protein powder(vegan), and dates to add sweetness. Oh and some oats for fibre. I also add a few orange(or small amount of lime/lemon) pieces to give it a little preservative value.
I like to add avocado to give it a creamy texture. And I use raw cocoa since it has no sugar. Delicious!
How would this be if I used mini semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of syrup? Might have a bit of a crunch to it, but do you think it would still be good? ๐
So I just made them, slightly differently from the recipe! I used frozen banana, chocolate coconut milk, mini chocolate chips, and just over 2 tbsps of cooked oatmeal! Then I froze it for popsicles! Very yummy ๐
