Ingredients
1cuprolled oatsnot the quick-cooking kind
1 1/2cupswater
1cupunsweetened almond milkcan sub cow's milk - whole or 2%
1cupchopped fresh applepeeled if you like (just about any kind will do)
2tablespoonschia seeds
1tablespoonmolassesnot blackstrap
1tablespoonspure maple syrup
1/2teaspoonground cinnamon
1/2teaspoonground ginger
1/4teaspoonfreshly ground nutmeg
Pinchground cloves
Pinchsalt
Topping ideas: chopped fresh appledark brown sugar, pure maple syrup, sliced or slivered almonds, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), pecans, walnuts, raisins
Instructions
Place a medium saucepan on the stove; don't turn on the heat yet. Place all ingredients in the pan (except for toppings), stir to combine, and then turn the heat to medium. Bring to a slow simmer then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until thickened and the apples are soft, about 10 minutes.
