My Martha Stewart Book Collection: Updates & Checklist

Last month I decided I needed something in my life: More Martha Stewart. So I decided to collect every single Martha Stewart book secondhand.

Because the truth is, I love Martha, and I’ve loved her from the start. Martha’s whip-smart, classy, has taste for days, but isn’t afraid to have a little fun now and then. And I love every single one of her books (but especially the crafty ones!)

How Many Books has Martha Stewart Published?

Martha Stewart’s website says they have published 102 books, but some of those are reprints. So the task I have given myself is to collect all 93 individual books. I don’t really need two copies of the same book from different time frames.

September 10, 2026 – I’ve been collecting Martha Stewart books for nearly a month, and I have around 35 out of 93 so far. I’ve published videos on Instagram about my finds, but I’m a few books behind thanks to a couple recent Half Price Books hauls (and with that I’ve wiped out most of my local Half Price Books’ Martha inventories, whoops!)

I’ve also visited a LOT of thrift stores in the area, and it’s kind of been a boom or bust situation. One thrift store might have three books – then I’ll visit another 10 (yes TEN) thrift stores and maybe come up with one if I’m lucky.

But then, when I branched out to Half Price Books, I filled in a quite a few gaps. I even found a signed copy of her first book, Entertaining! (!!!) I’m into this.

I have yet to start with online used books like ThriftBooks, but I’m definitely not ruling it out. It’s becoming clear that there are 25 or so books that are pretty common and easy to find, and I found those pretty easily. It will be filling in the rest of them that’s going to be tough. But I’m really trying to do it secondhand.

I originally hand-wrote my list, but in writing this post, I decided to create a printable checklist that I (and others!) can use.

Most Prized & Sought-After Martha Stewart Books

It’s become really apparent that there are a handful of Martha Stewart books that are not only prized, but they go for a fair amount of money and are hard to come by. Here’s what I’ve gathered so far in my searches:

1. Entertaining – Martha’s first book in 1982. This book was out of print for 40+ years, and the recent Martha documentaries/features re-sparked interest, leading to some scarcity. But never fear, Martha Stewart republished Entertaining last year. I recently saw a copy at my local Barnes and Noble.
2. Gardening – I got lucky and found a copy of Gardening at my local Half Price Books, even though it doesn’t have a dust cover, which is a bummer. I paid, gosh, I think $50 for it. This one’s hard to find.
3. New Old House – In this iconic 1992 book, Martha takes the reader through the renovation process from start to finish via her own restoration of the Adams House in Westport, Connecticut. It’s informative and inspirational.
4. Pretty much all of her wedding-themed books. I have yet to find one out in the wild, and online, they seem to go for $40+.
5. Halloween – The Halloween issues of Martha Stewart Living Magazine were legendary. This book compiles her epic costumes, recipes, and ideas. Ugh, I want this book so badly! But used copies are going for $75+ online.
6. Martha’s Entertaining: A Year of Celebrations – This one’s newer than the others, having been published in 2011. It’s hefty and awesome! And quite in demand.
