Okay, so maybe it’s more khaki than green.
No, I know. It totally looks like mud. But trust me on this. It tastes just like this utterly delicious vegan banana chocolate smoothie. But it has spinach! Still delicious and chocolatey, but with bonus nutrition (and justification). Whoop whoop!
I wish there was some way I could make this smoothie more attractive. But, hey. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And this smoothie is PROUD to look like compost. I guess because it knows it tastes far more delicious than compost.
Chocolatey, banana-y, cool, refreshing, indulgent, and healthy. That’s my kinda ugly smoothie.
For a creamier, less watered-down smoothie, freeze your banana first and skip the ice.

- 1 cup baby spinach (packed)
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1 cup ice

I love any chance that I get to sneak in extra veggies into my meals/snacks! This one sounds fabulous and I love that it is vegan :).
I love green smoothies, and a chocolate banana one sounds delicious!
Hahaha – I love this post. There have been many, many recipes I’ve photographed that just look…not so appetizing. But yet they’re so delicious! Tho you’re smoothie, although khaki in color, looks more chocolatey and delicious! I’d take brown over green any day – that just means there’s chocolate!
The green and chocolate combo never looks very good, but I absolutely believe that this tastes delicious!
This is the third time I have tried your smoothie recipes, and this one is just as amazing as the others! I also added strawberries, so it turned out to be an ugly mud color. But it was still delicious 🙂
Hi Caroline, thanks so much for commenting (and for the compliment)! So glad you loved it. Strawberries sound like a fantastic addition. I think for this smoothie, there’s no getting around the fact that it’s going to be ugly. As long as it doesn’t *taste* like mud we’re good, right? 😉
