Christmas is just around the corner. How did that happen? Oh, right. It happens every year. Still somehow takes me by surprise, usually. But I love almost every second of it, even with the inevitable bit of holiday whiplash.
We’re all about fun little traditions around here, and one of those is a fresh batch of muffins on Christmas morning. Sometimes fancy, sometimes simple, always festive and delicious.
So I thought I’d round up some especially festive muffins for the big day. From gingerbread to eggnog and from cranberries to chai … you’re sure to find your perfect Christmas morning muffin recipe among these 7 Marvelous Muffin Recipes for Christmas Morning.

What’s your favorite Christmas morning breakfast?
For the last decade I’ve been making a batch of gingerbread (using the Joy of Cooking recipe) with Chantilly cream (sweetened whipped cream with vanilla) for breakfast on Christmas morning. It makes the house smell absolutely FABULOUS–and tastes great too. I also have a Vanocka (Czech braided sweet bread with fruit-somewhat akin to Stollen) that I serve with sweet butter. Serve this with an Eggnog Latte or a Peppermint Latte (with a small cinnamon stick hanging off the edge of the coffee cup) and you have a meal to munch on while opening presents and listening to your favorite Christmas music next to a roaring fire and a fragrant, sparkling tree…
Before that I was making a Hash Brown Quiche, which was WONDERFUL with it’s crispy hash brown crust of potatoes and filling of pepper jack and cheddar cheeses (I always skipped the chunks of ham).
The carbo load for the gingerbread breakfast is a bit high…(well, more than a bit…), so I think I’ll troll around to find something on the protein side to augment it this year. Perhaps a soysage lollypop or a eggy quiche cupcake… If you have any suggestions, I’d be happy to hear them!
Cheers
