As I mentioned earlier this week, I’ve been cutting back on dairy. As it turns out, breakfast was when I really packed it in. Between the cream in my coffee and my typical go-to breakfast of yogurt, I was starting off the day with some serious dairy action.
So this is a totally selfish little round-up, because I’ve been in need of ideas. I figured I’d do a little research, and share some of my findings here while I was at it. I’ve already started using homemade almond milk coffee creamer again (so good), but the rest of breakfast is a bit of a challenge. And I’m still eating eggs, even – but it’s still hard! So here are 5 Hearty Dairy-Free Breakfast Recipes. And I know there are tons more great dairy-free breakfasts are out there, I just need to find them!
Granola from Kitchen Treaty
This tutorial shows you how to make granola your way – and includes a dairy-free option. I love to pack in the seeds and nuts. I enjoyed a nice scoopful with a banana and a little almond milk drizzled over the top earlier this week, and didn’t even think about food again until lunch.
Dairy-Free Vegetable Quiche from Gimme Some Oven
Packed with tons of veggies and a little almond milk to make it creamy, this is a great recipe that packs in the eggs but not the dairy. You can even leave out the crust and make it a frittata.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Chia Breakfast Parfait from Oh My Veggies
Um, healthy chocolate plus peanut butter plus it’s dairy-free? I’m in.
Black Beans, Mushroom, & Avocado Breakfast Scramble from Kitchen Treaty
The formula used here would work for all kinds of dairy-free breakfast recipes. Veggies + maybe a little extra protein + eggs = done!
Creamy Steel-Cut Mango Coconut Oatmeal from Kitchen Treaty
The coconut milk keeps this one nice and creamy. So good!

I love your round-ups, they’re so beautifully curated…I get overwhelmed by the 100+ recipe collections! I’d enjoy every one of these!
I was at TJ’s this morning and they were sampling a new Breakfast Burrito that was delicious. I think it would be easy to recreate. It was quinoa, sweet potato and kale wrapped in a chili-onion tortilla which looked like a wheat tortilla. Being from TX I’m a big fan of the breakfast taco or breakfast burrito.
Sunday: Coffeecake with a side of Fresh Fruit and Soysage
Monday: Avocado on Toast
Tuesday: Smoothie (Berries, OJ, Banana, Protein Powder, Chia, Wheat
Germ, Almond Milk)
Wednesday: High Protein Oatmeal (with Soy Grits)
Thursday: Peanut (or Almond, or Cashew) Butter on Toast with Banana
Friday: Tofu & Greens Stirfry with Homefries
Saturday: Soysage and Apple Pie in a Cheddar Crust (From King Arthur)
So, any other challenges out there?
Yeah, well I guess the Cheddar crust on the pie wouldn’t work, but you could leave that part out or maybe sub with some Nutritional Yeast? Sorry about that one…
Whoops! Well, I’m still excited to try this one crust-free. 🙂 Thanks for the heads-up!
I’ve been tending towards yoghurt for breakfast at the moment. It’s really the only dairy I get in my day though I do welcome a dairy free breakfast, especially with a round-up as gorgeous as this!
I love the idea of the black bean, mushroom, avocado scramble – delicious!
