So! I posted a Crock Pot recipe earlier this week, and I’ve got two more slated for next. I guess it’s officially Crock Pot season.Read More
Welcome to my very first “skinny” recipe! I’ll be honest – I’m not sure I love the use of “skinny” in recipe titles, and I’ve been hesitant to jump on that particular bandwagon. But sometimes you’ve just gotta go with the most descriptive word, and so “skinny” it is.
These vanilla cheesecake pops are the best of both worlds – they taste so rich and utterly sinful, but they’re only 128 calories each. Seriously – 128 calories!Read More
In the words of Jim Carrey a’la “The Mask,” somebody stop me.
Except please don’t. Because I don’t ever want to stop drinking iced coffee, and especially this vanilla iced coffee.Read More
How did I live life before iced coffee? Granted, with a young toddler in my life, I sleep less than ever these days (yeah, I totally know that’s the 500th time I’ve mentioned it), so maybe that’s why I can’t imagine a life (and especially a morning) without a frosty glass of the stuff clutched between my desperate hands.Read More
Oh hey. In a day or two, you’re going to be at the store grabbing limes for your Cinco de Mayo margaritas (you are picking up limes for margaritas, right?!) Well, grab a couple extra. And a couple more. Because this might just be your new favorite green smoothie recipe. It’s definitely mine.Read More
I guess I need to admit something.
As much as I am a total freak for pumpkin almost-everything, I was never much of a pumpkin pie fan. It just … almost always has seemed a little mushy and, honestly, unremarkable to me. And with so many other pie options out there, why bother?
But thanks to this pie, that statement is past-tense. Was never a fan. Totally am now. Of this pumpkin pie.Read More
This pumpkin pie martini is a perfect example of one of the coolest things about being a food blogger: the endless opportunity for creativity. I’ve always had fun creating never-before-seen concoctions in my kitchen, and blogging kicked that creative process up to a whole new level. Sometimes I imagine the brain as a slot machine with an endless list of flavors on the left and dishes on the right. Hit the button … Pomegranate! White chocolate! and … pudding cake! Hit it again … Spaghetti squash! Cheddar! And … pancakes! (Well … not everything’s a winner).Read More
Yesterday was the perfect day.
I got out of the house early and took my little one to a “Baby and Me” story time session at the local library. At three months, she’s too young to get too much out of it, but when she looked around in awe, smile plastered on her face, I knew I’d made the right choice.Read More
Vanilla is such a magical ingredient. “Plain vanilla” – ha. It’s far from plain, though I really have no idea how to describe it. Intoxicating. Warm. Familiar. Yummy. But I guess I don’t really need to describe it. It’s vanilla. You know.
Surely we’re all familiar with cooking with vanilla extract. Delicious in and of itself. Vanilla beans are a fairly new addition to my kitchen, though certainly one of my very favorite ingredients. They take vanilla to the next level. When you see a cookie or cupcake or scone or scoop of ice cream dotted with those tiny little telltale black specks, you know you’re in for a treat.Read More
Top o’ the morning to ya! Welcome to a big, huge day in my blogosphere. See, not only am I sharing this insanely delicious cookie in honor of Saint Patty’s Day, but I’m also launching a new blog! It’s called Kitchen Treaty, and it’s been in the works for awhile. It’s a food blog dedicated to showing that vegetarians and meat-eaters can live together, and I’ll be sharing loads of recipes that I’ve developed over the years. Some of them start out as one dish and end up as two – one for the vegetarians, one for the carnivores – and some of them are vegetarian recipes that are so delicious the carnies in your life won’t even notice the lack of meat. Plus a few extra thrown in here and there. I’ll still be posting here, but I do so hope you’ll come on over and check Kitchen Treaty out, too.
And now! About these cookies.Read More
Fridays are extra crazy where I’ve been working lately. One of my co-workers suggested one of us bring in treats every week in order to help mitigate the pain. Brilliant gal!
Being, well, me, I got all excited and volunteered to bring in the first happy-makers. I decided on cupcakes early on, as I’d teased my work friends with these bad boys but forgot them at home so instead they went to my guy’s office. All the way home, I dreamed up possible combinations. Chocolate with peanut butter buttercream and a little hunk of Reeses on top … salted caramel (with caramel filling, natch) … ooh! Or a dreamy raspberry, lemon and vanilla combo inspired by the flavors in this amazing cheesecake from, yes, The Cheesecake Factory (trust me, it’s delicious).Read More
Rumor has it that the mighty cupcake is losing favor and pie popularity is surging. I’m not sure I’m down with the idea of certain sweets going in and out of fashion, but I’m a big fan of making room for everyone. Especially when it comes to desserts.
Today, though, for one day, I’m okay with favoring pie. It is, after all, National Pie Day. That’s right; a holiday all about pie! According to holidayinsights.com, it’s a day for baking pies, sharing pies and trying new pie recipes. And hey! I’ve got a new recipe for you right here!
I first made this Sweet Potato Pie for Christmas just this year. It’s one of those rare recipes that hit the perfect note the very first time I attempted it, and I doubt I’ll ever stray from this version. I’m just going to put all modesty aside and declare it pretty much perfection.Read More
